November in Vietnam & Cambodia. Our trip to Vietnam and Cambodia was well planned and executed. Our Country Travel Directors were excellent, particularly in Vietnam. For the price we could have had more evening meals covered

Everything went perfectly and as described in the Trafalgar brochure. The hotels were excellent and central. The travel directors were very helpful for the elderly traveller. Air conditioned coaches and bottled water always available. The travel directors were very knowledgeable. Excellent in content but Trafalgar did not honour their promised discount when we booked our trip.

Overall, the trip was excellent . The exception of course were the anticipated changes in the itinerary that they knew about in advance . However, Trafalgar did try to be responsive to the complaints the group had about the changed itinerary. Just note that several items listed on the itinerary are not going to happen and the company knows this in advance. Papermaking, the Japanese bridge, morning flight out of Siam reap , be my guest dinner at Siam reap, etc. will not happen. For me, this is beyond editing errors and feels more like bait and switch to entice buyers but not deliver. And because of security reasons, you lose quite a bit of time driving to and waiting at airports and picking up luggage, etc. Given these factors, is it worth it? It’s too bad I have to review this together as I would rate the Vietnam part as five out of five and the Cambodia part a three out of five. The temples and sites in both countries were fabulous. I would not advise going in April as it was so hot over 40° each day in Cambodia and quite a bit of walking. Tom in Vietnam was absolutely excellent while I I think Thara In Cambodia is nice, but did not have the same language ability and skillset in terms of organization and dealing with consumer questions as Tom. Vietnam has the best food and most of the hotels across the trip were good. We came in early and purchased an extra night as well as an independent bike tour and food tour in Hanoi that we really enjoyed. Visited Train Street on our own and really enjoyed it. Again, the temples were great and after a few days of the group complaining to the guide in Cambodia about things that were not included as expected, they did try to make it up to us with an extra included lunch and an extra temple on the way to the airport on the last day. I did appreciate the Effort, but it could’ve been handled better when the group 1st brought up its concerns. I also felt bad about the sort of holocaust and torture theme of some of the stops like the museum in Vietnam and the Cambodia parts of the trip. I was aware and interested in the American war, the killing fields and prisons part of the itinerary, but going to the various sites and hearing the stories was more disturbing than I anticipated. Perhaps because most if it was the end of the trip and we were tired? Also, because the itinerary was changed to an evening flight from SR, all activities in phnom penh were concentrated all in one day and it was just too much to absorb or handle emotionally. Angkor wat was my favourite in Cambodia and Hanoi was my favourite in Vietnam. If you go to the tunnels near Ho Chi Minh, just know that it’s much more difficult than described to crawl in the tunnels and the guide we were given, went so fast, literally sprinting in the dark, that the few people in our group physically able to do it had an extremely Difficult time following the guide and keeping up in the dark tunnels. When we asked Tom why that was because we weren’t able to enjoy the experience or even take pictures in the tunnels, etc.. He didn’t really have an explanation other than we were going to meet up at a certain time to speak to Vet. Because of this, this was the only excursion that I would not advise paying for. As well, you can get a cheaper food tour independently in Hanoi that’s just as good if not better than the Trafalgar food tour that’s more expensive. We paid about $17 American for it instead of the $39 that it cost with Trafalgar.

Trusted Customer   -  Traveled, November 2024

Our tour guide in Cambodia was very disappointing. He made no effort to get to know our names, insisted on taking way too many group pictures and was unwilling to accommodate special requests We had told him the morning of the optional boat tour in Siem Reap that we wanted to take the tour and then he left without us. We had to call him to come back to the hotel to pick us up, which was a inconvenience for others who took the tour and resulted in missing the sunset as was already dark due to the time delay. Vietnam was wonderful and I very much enjoyed it. It was a very busy active tour that for some people in our tour group found it to be physically too much. The Cambodia part of the tour had too many temple visits over two short of time and ending the tour with seeing the killing fields was a very negative experience. if would have been better to have seen the killing fields first in the tour and ending with the temples. The hotel in Siem Reap was not as nice as the other Hotels and my room needed a good cleaning

Holiday to remember! We cannot fault our tour leaders who added to our overall experience and ensured that we enjoyed the most memorable holiday. The choice of venues was excellent and we really felt that we saw all aspects of both Vietnam and Cambodia. An excellent selection of accommodation and we will certainly consider booking with Trafalgar again. The itinerary was varied and the local experts were knowledgeable and fluent. The optional trips catered for all members of our group. Our cooking experiences were a real highlight and we continue to cook using the recipes now at home!

Great way to explore Vietnam and Cambodia! Vietnam and Cambodia trip provides an great tour to the main sites including once in a lifetime trip to Angkor Wat temple. The trip is fantastic with great range of experiences. I may consider an overnight in Danang to have time at the beach as it is an intense tour and a quiet afternoon one day may be nice to enjoy the beach.

Thom is the best travel director we have ever had. Our guide in Vietnam went well beyond what was required to arrange activities in spare time and dinners on the nights they weren't included. The temples in Cambodia are a once in a lifetime experience. Travel was arranged to have minimal time on the bus. We learned a lot of the history of both countries.

Customer Experience Trafalgar’s service is top notched as it includes 5 star hotels, fabulous guides ( Thom in Vietnam was awesome and Tara in Vietnam was refreshingly humble and informative), all activities were well planned and I loved that we gave back to a community by our donation to make travel matter. Even though we were a diverse group of travels from across the world everyone got on very well together. I’d like the company to know that I think the trip was a little overpriced. However, I did enjoy the tour very much.

You should update your itinerary because you said that the maximum travelers in the group was 20 but there were 28 of us instead. Also, there was no flight from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh in the morning so, we had to kill our time up to 8pm flight. Other than these, our trip was excellent and unforgettable. People in Vietnam and Cambodia are so friendly, hospitable and respectful. Excellent hotels especially the staffs.
