Contiki (CA)
Contiki is a New Zealand-based tour company that caters to 18 to 35-year-olds, offering over 350 different tours in over 75 countries in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.[1] It is a subsidiary of The Travel Corporation. Its tours historically had a reputation for partying;[2][3] however, it also operates wellness trips culturally immersive experiences that focus less on alcohol, which are more popular with Generation Z.[4] The company owns lodging facilities in Europe, including the Chateau De Cruix, a 16th century castle in the Beaujolais wine region, and the Gasthof Schoneck in the Austrian Tyrol. The name "Contiki" comes from the portmanteau 'Con' from the word 'Continent' and 'Tiki'; from the Māori referring to the first man, often symbolised as a pendant known as hei-tiki. It can also be attributed to the New Zealand slang 'Tiki-tour' describing taking a longer route to a destination in order to explore.[5]

This was my first contiki trip and I had the BEST time ever!! Our contiki tour manager was so knowledgeable, and had such a kind, fun, goofy and bright personality, which instantly put everyone’s initial nerves at ease. We all clicked so well and had such a fun time together whilst exploring some beautiful places. The train trip also meant we had shorter travel time, which maximised our stay in each city!! I couldn’t recommend this trip enough!! I’ll cherish these memories forever XOX. Easy to book and easy to navigate the website!

It was the perfect amount of time for a trip, You get to see many places, with about a day and a half in each. so you get to explore all the main sites but not overwhelmed or exhausted by the end off it. I meet heaps of amazing people on the trip including our trip manager provided heaps of great recommendations in every stop, as well as organised the travel effectively. Going on trains was fun and quick when they were working properly but the one downside of the trip is we had one train cancelled so we had to take 4 different trains including one that we stood up for 3 hours and cause a delay of almost 4 hours compared to if the train ran on time. This was outside on Contiki's control so no fault on them but a warning for future travellers. Overall a great experience and I can't wait to do it again. Easy to book online, all done within a few minutes.

The train tour was a unique experience, however if you want a less stressful experience or a more organised one i would say maybe try a bus tour. There were too many occasions where we were running for trains or a train had been cancelled or we were all separated without knowing where we were exactly going (this was for travel between countries and travel on public transport while in said countries). While there is nothing anyone can do about cancelled train, it felt like there was no backup plan from contiki, which felt a little unstable. Accomodation was good, only issue i would say is that they're quite far out from the centre of the city but the actual accommodations were great! One thing i will say is that it felt like you had to ask where we were going exactly for included experiences/dinners/lunches or anything organised by contiki. You were just told a meeting time and then had to ask many questions to know where you were going which was usually fine, unless you got separated on a train or public transport which happened on many occasions. Overall the trip was great, had lots of fun, wish there was more organisation, would've felt more secure and safe this way.

Had an absolutely amazing time on this trip! Our trip manager Maddy was the best. It’s definitely a fast paced trip, but I still got to see so many things in each of the cities. The train travel was definitely the unique aspect of this as opposed to traveling by coach bus. I’d say I saw lots of scenery but I fell asleep on most of the rides between cities. People do have the option to do this trip in shorter modules, so there is a constant flow of people to meet. This was my 5th trip with contiki and look forward to the next! Booked online with a travel credit and it was super easy. The chat feature is great for asking questions about your trip or billing.
