Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara

Today your adventure begins. You’ll meet your guides and your fellow 35-45s, and then we’ll load up the safari vehicles and be on our way. Passing through the Great Rift Valley, we’ll get to our Maasai Mara lodge just in time for lunch – and then head out for our first game drive. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife large and small as we make our way across those magnificent rolling hills. **Please note this trip is available exclusively to Contiki Past Passengers, or those travelling with a Contiki Past Passenger, aged 35-45.

Accommodation: Sentrim Mara (or similar)
Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2: Maasai Mara

After an early breakfast, you'll get the chance to head out on a hot air balloon ride to check out the African Savannah as the sun rises. Then, after a champagne breakfast to top it all off, you'll rejoin the morning's game drive. At midday, we’ll head back to the lodge for lunch and a swim, and then embark on our second game drive this afternoon – in search of Africa's elusive big cats. The Maasai Mara is the setting for one of nature’s greatest phenomena: The Great Migration. If you’re here at the right time of year, you’ll have the chance to witness millions of wildebeest and zebras en route to greener pastures.

This afternoon we head back to Nairobi, where something truly special awaits us. We'll visit the Kibera Slum to see the incredible work being done by the Mirror of Hope Foundation - working to break the cycle of poverty through education, helping the women and children to improve their quality of life. Afterwards, the afternoon is yours to relax and choose from a variety of hotel restaurants with views of the Nairobi National Park.

We'll also visit the Sheldrick Elephant rehabilitation nursery to watch baby elephants play and bathe in the water (the most beautiful chaotic mess you'll ever encounter), and hear the fascinating story of their road to recovery too. After a picnic lunch and a visit to a local Curio shop, we’ll head for our lodge (right on the edge of the Amboseli National Park, might we add, with views of Mt Kilimanjaro too!) to enjoy a delicious included dinner.

After lunch we will head out to Amboseli National Park, famous for its iconic shots of elephants and wildlife feeding in the foreground while the peak of Africa rises in the background: Mt Kilimanjaro. It's a photographer's dream, and it's all yours. Our final dinner in Kenya will be included back at the lodge.

Our last day of this incredible trip will send us off with a bang, including one last morning game drive through the Amboseli to the Tanzania border. Tour Operator

Contiki (CA)

Contiki is a New Zealand-based tour company that caters to 18 to 35-year-olds, offering over 350 different tours in over 75 countries in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.[1] It is a subsidiary of The Travel Corporation. Its tours historically had a reputation for partying;[2][3] however, it also operates wellness trips culturally immersive experiences that focus less on alcohol, which are more popular with Generation Z.[4] The company owns lodging facilities in Europe, including the Chateau De Cruix, a 16th century castle in the Beaujolais wine region, and the Gasthof Schoneck in the Austrian Tyrol. The name "Contiki" comes from the portmanteau 'Con' from the word 'Continent' and 'Tiki'; from the Māori referring to the first man, often symbolised as a pendant known as hei-tiki. It can also be attributed to the New Zealand slang 'Tiki-tour' describing taking a longer route to a destination in order to explore.[5]

An unforgettable experience. Multiple core memories made with an incredible bunch of humans. The days were often long, but packed full of adventure. Our tour guides were extremely informative, happily sharing and educating us on wildlife, their communities and culture. I feel very fortunate to have experienced Kenya. Lastly, for anyone travelling solo, I couldn't have felt safer. Please don't hesitate to book! You won't regret it!

Being able to experience the safaris and being up close to the animals in their natural habitat. It was beautiful to witness how animals are just on their own. The trip was easy to book, but I wish there was more information about planning the trip prior to booking. For example, I had to email Contiki to ask when the trip would be starting (time of day) because it was hard to find on the booking page. Depending where you are flying from it is hard to know when to arrange flights for the trips if this information is not given ahead of time. Even though it can't be predicted 100% something as simple as "Flight times before **:** or Flight times after **:**" would have come in handy.

This trip is fantastic! I always wanted to go to Kenya and initially was a bit worried about safety since I was a female travelling solo and this was my first group tour so didn't really know what to expect but I can say I felt absolutely so so safe and welcomed by Kenya and the the tour leaders! You get such an amazing itinerary, you do and see so much, with loads of experiences that are unique which you won't get with other tours. *Personal information removed by Feefo* and *Personal information removed by Feefo* are amazing, you'll absolutely have the best time! Value for money is insane, accommodation is great, everything was just perfect for my first trip to Kenya, I'm so glad I booked it! Would recommend to everyone! I'd do the whole trip all over again! Excellent! Sometimes would have to wait a while on the phone but nothing crazy! Contiki would answer all my questions/concerns as quickly as possible. I would say with my trip it would have been nice for the chat to open sooner but apart from that it was great.

We did the Kenyan Highlights tour as part of our honeymoon The service and knowledge we received from our guides (*Personal information removed by Feefo* and *Personal information removed by Feefo*) was second to none, they made the trip so fun and helped us to forge some unforgettable memories. We weren't however aware that it was a group trip so if we had known this prior to booking we probably wouldn't have booked it for our honeymoon as we did lack some private couple time. We expected to be in groups for the jeep safari rides but having to have all our meal times with 10 other singletons took the romance side of the honeymoon away. I did also feel that the morning spent visiting the Masai village and local school, for me, went on for too long- I would have been happy for it to be just an hour as I got a bit bored and it would have been nice to spend the morning by the hotel pool for some relaxation as the trip is so full on We did the Kenyan Highlights tour as part of our honeymoon The service and knowledge we received from our guides (*Personal information removed by Feefo* and *Personal information removed by Feefo*) was second to none, they made the trip so fun and helped us to forge some unforgettable memories. This was a once in a lifetime trip and I loved everything about it. I am so glad I was able to enjoy Africa and Contiki made it affordable and possible!! It's hard for me to put into words how unbelievable this trip was. This was my first ever Contiki trip and definitely not my last. My friend and I decided to book this trip because we needed a reset. We chose the Kenyan Highlights trip because we wanted adventure but also wanted to immerse ourselves in a different culture. I thought I would only be able to go to Africa when I was more settled in my life but Contiki made it super affordable and the itinerary was really incredible. I can't say enough about our tour manager, *Personal information removed. He is one of the most incredible human beings and now someone I am able to call a friend. He made this trip 100 times better. I am incredibly grateful to have met him and I hope I will see him again! Don't think, just go - book this trip!
