Itinerary
Today your adventure begins. You’ll meet your guides and your fellow travellers, and then we’ll load up the safari vehicles and be on our way. Passing through the Great Rift Valley, we’ll get to our Maasai Mara lodge just in time for lunch – and then head out for our first game drive. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife large and small as we make our way across those magnificent rolling hills.
Accommodation: Sentrim Mara (or similar)
Meals: Lunch, Dinner
After an early breakfast, you'll get the chance to head out on a hot air balloon ride to check out the African Savannah as the sun rises. Then, after a champagne breakfast to top it all off, you'll rejoin the morning's game drive. At midday, we’ll head back to the lodge for lunch and a swim, and then embark on our second game drive this afternoon – in search of Africa's elusive big cats. The Maasai Mara is the setting for one of nature’s greatest phenomena: The Great Migration. If you’re here at the right time of year, you’ll have the chance to witness millions of wildebeest and zebras en route to greener pastures.
Accommodation: Sentrim Mara (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Rise and shine, Kenyan explorers! With the Maasai Mara lodged firmly in our memories (and our hearts), we'll make our way back to Nairobi this morning - where plenty more magic awaits. This afternoon we head back to Nairobi, where something truly special awaits us. We'll visit the Kibera Slum to see the incredible work being done by the Mirror of Hope Foundation - working to break the cycle of poverty through education, helping the women and children to improve their quality of life. Afterwards, the afternoon is yours to relax and choose from a variety of hotel restaurants with views of the Nairobi National Park.
Accommodation: 2.5.4. Ole Sereni (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast
Back in Nairobi, we'll have the chance to take a unique game drive in Nairobi National Park. Keep your eyes peeled for waterholes, cityscapes and the elusive white rhino too. We'll also visit the Sheldrick Elephant rehabilitation nursery to watch baby elephants play and bathe in the water (the most beautiful chaotic mess you'll ever encounter), and hear the fascinating story of their road to recovery too. After a picnic lunch and a visit to a local Curio shop, we’ll head for our lodge (right on the edge of the Amboseli National Park, might we add, with views of Mt Kilimanjaro too!) to enjoy a delicious included dinner.
Accommodation: Sentrim Amboseli (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
After our morning's buffet breakfast, we will do a short safari walk to a Maasai village, guided by Maasai warriors as they teach us about their culture and everyday lives co-existing with wild animals. After lunch we will head out to Amboseli National Park, famous for its iconic shots of elephants and wildlife feeding in the foreground while the peak of Africa rises in the background: Mt Kilimanjaro. It's a photographer's dream, and it's all yours. Our final dinner in Kenya will be included back at the lodge.
Accommodation: Sentrim Amboseli (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Our last day of this incredible trip will send us off with a bang, including one last morning game drive through the Amboseli to the Tanzania border. We then head back to Nairobi for drop-offs at Nairobi Airport or our hotel in Nairobi. With full hearts and memories, here is where we'll say fond farewells to our Africa adventure and our new Contiki family.

The name "Contiki" comes from the portmanteau 'Con' from the word 'Continent' and 'Tiki'; from the Māori referring to the first man, often symbolised as a pendant known as hei-tiki. It can also be attributed to the New Zealand slang 'Tiki-tour' describing taking a longer route to a destination in order to explore.[5]

I cannot express how wonderful Jahbir made our trip to Kenya. At every opportunity he went above and beyond to make sure we had the most meaningful visit possible. Not only did he share his knowledge of the wildlife, he also ensured we had a full understanding of Kenyan culture. He was happy to answer my never-ending questions and truly treated us like old friends. Our trip throughout Kenya was so meaningful because of Jahbir. We are already looking forward to returning in the future. We came for the animals, but Jahbir gave us so much more. I cannot express how wonderful Jahbir made our trip to Kenya. This is a very well thought out trip. It was a successful safari which also managed to have variety in the itinerary. The guide JB and both drivers were amazing; so friendly, helpful and they were like 3 extra members of the group. The drivers were so determined for us to see as much as possible, chasing tips for animals at speed to get us there. JB was a fount of knowledge on all the animals (his ostrich mating dance imitation was a treat to behold!). A once in a lifetime trip with a wonderful group of people. A great way to spend my Christmas. Easy and the staff were always helpful via email

The trip was a great one. Couldn't of asked for better people to share the experience. It was a small group of just 7 people. Our safari experience saw us seeing the big 5 within 2 days. The trip manager was a good laugh and full of great knowledge of animals and Kenya itself. The accommodation was a little basic but comfortable once you got used to little electricity in some parks and the amount of flying insects. The meals were fab. Plenty to choose from. I done both activities. The balloon flight was a wash out due to the weather. Wouldn't have paid for it if I knew it was going to be so short due to the rain. The village visit was an experience I would advise everyone try. Don't take too much money with you though as everyone expects you to spend way too much on souvenirs. As they do in those stop Off shops. All in all a fab trip. Booking the trip was fairly easy. Unable to book online I phoned the number and the lovely man on the phone promptly sorted it all for me. Communication was fab.

One of the best weeks of my life. The trip was unbelievable, we saw so many animals and had some incredible experiences like feeding giraffes, flying in a hot air balloon over the Maasai Mara and being welcomed into a Maasai Village. The Trip Leader Jabir Olomi (JB) was on of the nicest guys I have ever met. Him and the other drivers made our week amazing, answering every question we could think of. I have made some lifelong friends for sure with the amazing group of people I met on the tour! Great service and advice buy everyone I spoke to before and while buying the trip. The only thing I would change is to not tell people to bring US Dollars on this trip. None of the hotels accept them. Only bring Kenyan Shillings, or at least get some in the airport when you arrive!

Amazing experience! This trip was absolutely perfect and by far one of the best trips I have taken! Kenya is a beautiful place with very friendly people. Our trip would not have been the same though without our awesome trip leader Jabir and both our drivers, they were all phenomenal and really ensured that we had the perfect trip!

Haron made this trip absolutely wonderful and even made small adjustments along the way to cater to what the group was interested in doing. We saw so much in a week and I felt so much value for what I spent. The only down side was a lot of time in the car. All the staff we interacted with throughout our Contiki experience were friendly and knowledgeable, especially our tour manager, Heron. He was knowledgeable, friendly, fun and a pleasure to be around. One thing that would have been helpful prior to departure is more guidance on what vaccinations and medications to get before traveling. Of course we figured it out, but it would be nice to have that on the website so we did not need to do the additional research.
