Contiki (CA)
Contiki is a New Zealand-based tour company that caters to 18 to 35-year-olds, offering over 350 different tours in over 75 countries in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.[1] It is a subsidiary of The Travel Corporation. Its tours historically had a reputation for partying;[2][3] however, it also operates wellness trips culturally immersive experiences that focus less on alcohol, which are more popular with Generation Z.[4] The company owns lodging facilities in Europe, including the Chateau De Cruix, a 16th century castle in the Beaujolais wine region, and the Gasthof Schoneck in the Austrian Tyrol. The name "Contiki" comes from the portmanteau 'Con' from the word 'Continent' and 'Tiki'; from the Māori referring to the first man, often symbolised as a pendant known as hei-tiki. It can also be attributed to the New Zealand slang 'Tiki-tour' describing taking a longer route to a destination in order to explore.[5]

Jordan was an amazing place that with great sights! The contiki trip took away all the stress and had a lovely time seeing the sights and meeting new people. It was not the usual contiki trip as it was sub contracted to a local tour company ‘Petra wonders(?)’ so we had a great local tour guide but this meant some things were not quite the same in terms of how a normal contiki is run in terms of day activity communications and there were some discrepancies between the contiki itinerary and the tour company itinerary… (nearly accidentally missed out Aqaba as not on local tour company itinerary but was on the contiki itinerary & included a tour of Amman citadel with we were not expecting as was not on the contiki itinerary). I would recommend staying an extra day at the end of the contiki and arranging your own tour to go to mt nebo and the Dead Sea as these are amazing must see places that are missed by the tour. All in all a very glorious trip that I would highly recommend!

Itinerary and activities were really well planned and thought. Trip Manager was great and contributed to making the Jordan trip a wonderful experience. If you have the chance to book this trip, you definitely should. Experience of booking was easy, and intuitive. Information shared by Contiki and the trip manager before the trip were really detailed and useful. Overall a really good experience

Incredible experience! This trip hit so many of the highlights in Jordan and we enjoyed the flexibility of having a smaller group and added some side experiences on the fly. Less partying than I understand a typical Contiki to have as Jordan is a dry country, but I don't think many of us felt like we missed out! I was only a bit disappointed that a visit to the Dead Sea was not included on the Jordan side of the trip but it was easy to find my way there once the trip had concluded. The Contiki customer service team was excellent! I made a change just over 3 weeks out from my trip and switched from Jordan and Israel Uncovered to only Jordan Uncovered. Not only were they easily able to make that change, I got a full refund for the Israel portion! I was very impressed with Contiki's customer service before this trip!

I really enjoyed Contiki Jordan Uncovered. I thought our tour manager, Rob, & local guide, Mo, were the dynamic duo! Jordan is beautiful & I absolutely loved Petra! We also did so many other things like visit Jerash, Wadi Rum, beach club by the Red Sea, & at the end of the trip, some friends & I went to the Dead Sea. It was so hot, but also sooo fun!! I thought Contiki’s service was a little last minute. For my first trip, I wish they set up the FB group 30 days in advance or had a better way to get in contact with other travelers.

The itinerary was really good, so much packed into it to see everything we wanted to! Having more time in Petra was really good so we could see everything we wanted to. Carl and Ra’ed the local guide were really knowledgable and made the experience great!! They organised for us optional trip to a beach club in Aqaba which was so worth it on the last day as we could relax and go to the beach. Think this should be included in the itinerary from now on. Really helpful customer service with any enquiries. Although clearly the Jordan trip with the new itinerary had not been vetted by Contiki before my group went on it. We got a final hotel list through the day before travel and when we stayed in Wadi Rum it was a different place to on that list. No one had any WiFi or service to contact any next of kin to say we were saying in a different place so for safety reasons that was not good. Also we were put in rooms that were not up to the standard of contiki and when we complained then we got rooms sorted that were better. Just seemed that because the new itinerary had changed, a lot of stuff hadn’t been checked before sending a group out on the trip which wasn’t good and wasn’t fair on the trip manager when we had complaints.
