I have been on many Insight and Trafalgar tours and was disappointed not with the itinerary that was great thoughtly enjoyed every minute of itinerary. The Tour Director whilst a cheerful enough chap didn't supply us with enough information about trip each day, was very mediocre with information. Very different from previous tour directors. No helping people from bus, a few had walking sticks, felt we had to ask him all the time instead of him giving out information. Accommodation, was disappointed with my accommodation at a couple of places compared to other people. Whilst I'm happy to have a small room when you get the smallest room all the time it's disheartening. Especially when you are paying single supplement. Better rooms should be shared equally. Other fellow passengers even commented on the size of my room. I know this isn't Insights fault rooms are allotted by hotels but they could arrange to be equally distributed. Perfect itinerary. Loved all the gardens especially Hidcott and Budnant. Garden lovers delight.

This was my second Insight vacation and was very disappointed with the Tour Director who did not seem to have a great deal of enthusiasm and caused a great deal of drama with his mistakes and errors of judgment. The gardens were amazing! Gardens were well chosen and lovely although some days too long on coach.

The problem started when the Insight staff didn't know if the airport to hotel transfers were included or not. It took them weeks to figure that out. Then the airport pickup was very poor and uncoordinated. The tour director was largely unhelpful and did not provide the type of information that one would expect from an experienced guide. Nottingham should not be a stop on the tour. It is truly the armpit of England and the hotel was a dive. The hotel in the lake district was nice enough but far away from restaurants, shopping, walking paths and so the free time there was pointless.

As a seasoned traveler, I'm a pretty good judge of service and accommodations. Insight is very over-rated, I M O. Here are some serious flaws: 1) 39 people in a group is way too many when people are older and with physical limitations 2) no introductions of fellow travelers at the onset or even a list of names 3) sketchy information about the tour prior to signing on with internet and itinerary 4) timing of dinners set too late 9-10 PM is not good for most people and 5) poor insight into gardens and cultural settings-- just dropping people off at a location without providing much background is pitiful. Traveling should be a learning experience. Some places, Clovelly and Land's End, should be deleted because it was a tourist trap and of limited value time wise . Fresh water should be provided without charge on the coach. If tour director is not well-informed about plants and gardens someone else should be brought in as a docent or guide. The brochure from Insight was misleading on being a RHS garden tour. I thought there would be more educational value.

Matt, the Tour Director did nothing more than get our tickets to the various venues and get our room keys. Starting with Chelsea is stunning. Each garden provided a unique experience with it's plantings. Seeing so many Capability Brown settings is rare in one garden tour. The venues are superior.

Most accommodation was good, the gardens we visited were terrific, the breakfasts at the hotels were good, the driver was excellent, and the tour director was polite and accomodating. we would never have seen all the gardens if it wasnt for someone else organising it.

Insight always provides a good tour experience. A good choice of gardens which could have been extended to include the Eden Project in Cornwell. The major drawback was the choice of Nottingham for an overnight stay.
