Confused? Don’t be – just read on here.
  • London: What does a modular trip mean? A modular trip means fellow travellers will join and leave at various locations. There’ll be some goodbyes, sure, but there’ll also be plenty of hellos with new like-minded travellers.

Itinerary

Day 1: London to Paris

Welcome to the first day of the best holiday of your life - we're calling it early! After a few pleasantries in London we'll get the show on the road with Paris in our sights. A few hours in and your jaws are on the floor already. These chalk cliffs that edge the English coastline are known as the White Cliffs of Dover, the first of many natural beauties we'll see on this trip. After we ferry across the English Channel for France we'll arrive in Calais, where we will take in the history of World War I battlefields in the Valley of the Somme. Kicking off night one, we arrive in none other than the lust-worthy Paris! It's straight down to business with a tour of the city lit up by the lights of night.

Day 2: Paris

Drool over haute couture you can't afford, admire the Notre Dame Cathedral whilst juggling coffee and crêpes, & get artsy at the Louvre. Just don't wear yourself out, you will probably want to get involved with dinner and a cabaret show. Smitten and it's only day two!

Day 3: Paris to Bordeaux

Wipe away your tears sad travellers! Paris is not going anywhere, you can always come back and visit her again. You, on the other hand, are going somewhere, and it's somewhere pretty magnificent... Wise folk tell us that wine has been produced in Bordeaux since the 1st Century - that's a long time, which means they know what they're doing. And it's not just the vin that has dragged us here, it's a pretty place to boot featuring its famous Miroir d'eau (water mirror).

Accommodation: Ibis Budget Bordeaux Centre Meriadeck (or similar)

Day 4: Bordeaux to San Sebastian

Breathe in your last breath of Bordeaux before we hit the road in search of the Spanish border. In just a few short hours we'll be exploring San Sebastian. Our stop will have you people watching in this cute little town on the French and Spanish border. With two nights in Spain's coastal town of San Sebastian, it will be hard to wipe the smiles off our faces. Take a walk to the aquarium where you can get a closer look at Isla de Santa Clara. The night is yours.

Day 6: San Sebastian to Barcelona

Having settled into life with afternoon siestas, today will only be a departure from San Sebastian, don't worry leaving Spain is not on the agenda. Sigh with relief.  This town comes complete with a baroque Basilica, a perfect combination of Islamic and Gothic architecture and truly a sight to behold. Hola Barcelona...The first dose of Mediterranean Sea! That's if you can drag yourself away from the intoxicating city & get to the beach. Unique gothic architecture, round the clock parties & plenty of street life will leave you spellbound by Barcelona.

Day 7: Barcelona

They say this sexy city sizzles and we couldn't agree more. For a taste of what you can do, here's just a start of the never-ending list. Channel Gaudi at Sagrada Familia, his greatest masterpiece, started in 1882. This labour of love is still not compete, but is one for the Instagram upload for sure. Parc Guell could be next on the list, followed by the beach, and of course taking to the backstreets for some endless tapas and paella. Washed down with sangria of course.

Accommodation: Generator Barcelona (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast

Day 8: End Barcelona

That's it folks. The incredible ride has come to an end and you should all be left utterly inspired by what your time on the road has achieved. Now you have the pleasure of picking your next adventure. Greek Island Hopping, anyone?

The name "Contiki" comes from the portmanteau 'Con' from the word 'Continent' and 'Tiki'; from the Māori referring to the first man, often symbolised as a pendant known as hei-tiki. It can also be attributed to the New Zealand slang 'Tiki-tour' describing taking a longer route to a destination in order to explore.[5]

My goals with this trip were to explore Europe, feel more comfortable traveling overseas, to meet people from all around the world, experience new things and immerse myself in new cultures. I got everything that I wanted out of this trip and more! If you're looking for a great way to see the sights and learn a lot - I highly recommend Contiki. If you're lucky enough, you'll get Matteo as a trip leader and Philip as a coach driver. Thanks for everything!! Easy peasy! Didn't have any issues and appreciated being prepared with travel docs as well.

awesome trip, great locations - San Sebastian and Bordeaux were dark horses that exceeded my expectations! P.S. "Personal information removed by Feefo* is a top-drawer, fair dinkum trip manager. Super easy to book - I used a deposit from an older trip i booked prior and they sorted everything for me.

The structure is awesome and keeps things organised while maintaining plenty of opportunities for self paced exploration. The tour manager I was assigned, Sarah, was beyond incredible. Filip is a skilled driver and was awesome!

The trip was great and Jenny and Marek were amazing! I loved every moment of it - the people, activities, places... all of it! Would definitely recommend it to my friends and would consider doing another one.

Guide were great. Very engaging and new a lot of local places to make the trip more enjoyable. The hostels, in particular the hotel we stayed at in Paris, did not have working AC it was easily over 90 f or 33 c in our room. It was way too hot

Really enjoyed the Parisian dinner that led into the cabaret show then clubbing. Also liked seeing the quieter San Sebastian and getting immersed in the local food scene.

I will remember this trip for the rest of my life, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. It brought some of the best people I've ever met into my life and the best memories. It was the perfect mix of learning about the world while also having fun with the people around you. I couldn't have asked for a better trip manager *Personal information removed by Feefo* and driver *Personal information removed by Feefo*, I felt so safe with them and always felt like everything was under control. Ri really made everyone feel welcomed right from the beginning, not only was she an amazing leader but a great friend. They said at the start of the trip that we would become a family and that it would some of the hardest goodbyes at the end. And it was exactly that. I would recommend Contiki to anyone, it is a great way to see the world and make memories with friends that will last a lifetime. I didn't book my trip through Contiki but through another site. The partner site didn't prepare us or give us all of the information we needed. But as soon as I accessed the actual Contiki website everything was smooth sailing, and they were able to help with any questions I had.

I loved every second of our Contiki trip. Not only did we have an amazing group of people but "Personal information removed by Feefo* were terrific with their jobs. It was such a pleasure having "Personal information removed by Feefo* as our trip manager as he made every day exciting and every night great fun. *Personal information removed by Feefo was just as fun to be around and the banter everyone had with each other was so special. I would recommend Contiki to anyone and everyone who is travelling as I got to experience things I wouldn't have even thought about booking on my own and especially getting to travel around the world with people your age and also from the same country just makes the whole experience 100 times better. This contiki tour was one I will remember for a lifetime and I definitely will be booking more in the future Contiki was super easy to book with. All the information was easy accessible and the fact that you can make as many payments of however much you want at whatever time is amazing especially for a student like me who lives from pay check to pay check. Probably the easiest and smoothest booking site I've experienced

Overall the trip was absolutely amazing, Blinky, the trip manager was so knowledgeable and upbeat! He kept everyone excited and in the know about what we were doing next. The best trip of my life and I have recommended it to everyone I know, Blinky was a major part of that!! We learnt so much about the history of all the beautiful places we visited while also having so much fun as a group. Maciek was our driver and he was also amazing and so friendly and helpful, he helped us load our luggage and made it overall so easy for us. He was always smiling and happy to be there. Blinky did an incredible job and I cannot say anything bad or that I think he could do differently. The best experience of my life, I will be back next year!! If I could give a rating to each of them I would rate Maciek and Blinky both 10/10!! Amazing. Contiki were great with being active with responses especially when there were things I was confused about. They pointed me in the right direction and made it simple to understand.
