Contiki (CA)

Contiki is a New Zealand-based tour company that caters to 18 to 35-year-olds, offering over 350 different tours in over 75 countries in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.[1] It is a subsidiary of The Travel Corporation. Its tours historically had a reputation for partying;[2][3] however, it also operates wellness trips culturally immersive experiences that focus less on alcohol, which are more popular with Generation Z.[4] The company owns lodging facilities in Europe, including the Chateau De Cruix, a 16th century castle in the Beaujolais wine region, and the Gasthof Schoneck in the Austrian Tyrol. The name "Contiki" comes from the portmanteau 'Con' from the word 'Continent' and 'Tiki'; from the Māori referring to the first man, often symbolised as a pendant known as hei-tiki. It can also be attributed to the New Zealand slang 'Tiki-tour' describing taking a longer route to a destination in order to explore.[5]

Were the best pair! This was my first Contiki trip and I felt very welcomed and safe throughout the trip. Despite joining mid-way and made it easy to feel welcomed and get straight to the fun of it. You could tell the travelers prior were very comfortable with the group dynamic and had fun going out. I liked that encouraged the additional experiences because they made the trip that much more enjoyable. There was a great mix of adventure and downtime due to planning of the trip - and helpful day slips prepared to keep us on track. The bus rides were entertaining and did not feel overwhelming. There were great playlists to keep us entertained and some fun games thrown in to pass the time. I think did a great job managing expectations of the ride (ex: length of the ride, pit stops to take, mini stories about our destinations, what to expect/local knowledge) and doing gentle wakeups with the recurring song. got us everywhere in one piece! I hope my future Contiki trips are as enjoyable, if not more! The bar is set high :) I don't remember the booking process, which means it must've been very smooth and simple. I did not take advantage of the payment plans but I like that this is an option for the future.

This tour with all its sights and activities was great! But it was truly our guide Bailey & our driver Tomasz that made it extraordinary!

I was a little nervous to travel to Europe alone, as a single woman. I had a friend recommend that I try a tour instead of a solo adventure. I'm so grateful I went this route instead and had Rianna as my tour guide. She made us all feel very comfortable, especially me since this was my first time traveling by myself. Our tour group did not disappoint and I got to meet so many amazing people from around the world. I would highly recommend Rianna as your tour guide. Before booking your tour, make sure she is the lead.

No complaints for things within your control! It would be great if the limits for the day bags were explicit. I needed to reach out for a specific answer. Great otherwise!

The food was great, the trip was well-organized, and I learned a ton about the history and culture of each country. The activities were so much fun and all of the free time add-ons were fantastic too (my top three were the Slovenian evening, the river cruise in Budapest, and the gondola ride in Venice)! I had a blast and made lots of new friends :) Booking was quite simple and straightforward!

Very fun trip!! Mads and Marco are the best!! Mads is super knowledgeable about every place we went to and really enjoyed hanging out with her. Marco is the best driver, he’s also super funny. Would love to go on another trip with them. Rachel A (from NJ/NYC). Yes!! Everything went to plan. I would of went with someone else who I knew but met so many cool people.

Really good itinery. Lots to see and do with options to add activities or do our own stuff at our leisure. Value for money was excellent with really nice accomodation and activities included in the price. FTAs at times seemed a little over priced but being able to do it with the whole group was really nice and helped bond us together. Make Travel Matter was a really great thing to get involved in and seeing where our money goes directly. Our tour manager was first class so professional and fun with informative slides on each countries we visited. The bus driver was also first class.

The itinerary and the trip manager/ driver was fantastic! I should’ve done more research on travel times because the only thing we didn’t enjoy were the long bus days! Otherwise it was fantastic and our manager/ driver were extremely knowledgeable and very fun! I had multiple inquiries regarding this trip! So much so that the contiki team was probably getting sick of me!!! Since this trip was joining another trip it was a bit confusing for me! We also wanted to confirm my husband was always sharing a room with me! The staff answered every question with ease and helped book our prenight! Much appreciated! We’re already planning our next trip!

Great and interesting country’s to visit, visiting them during the festive season made my trip extra special. Easy to book, and when I needed help it was easy to access and my “problem” was solved very easily giving me lots of peace of mind.
