Peniche is famous for its supreme surf beach - Praia dos Supertubos, less than 10mins from our accommodation - with a tubular wave that makes it one of the locations of choice for big time international surf event Rip Curl Pro. The shallow slope combined with the north wind and ocean currents together create a tall, perfectly hollow wave for surfing and bodyboarding. But it’s not all about the professionals - here you’ll find ideal surfing conditions for all abilities, and so many beaches that overcrowding never becomes a problem.

Another trip to the past as we head inside the 14th century walls of Evora, home to grandiose medieval cathedrals, Ancient Roman baths and a spectacular town square. After wandering the cobbled streets we'll head on towards the Algarve. Hitting another coast on the way, we'll make a quick stop here for dinner and some more idyllic exploration. This picture perfect port-side part of Portugal retains Evora's quaint cobbled lanes but adds a whole bunch of stunning beaches.

Especially loved our time in Porto. Although Lisbon is a beautiful city, Porto seems more community oriented and I love how people get together to watch the games and responsibly chill out and drink in the street. Easy to book with clear instructions and requirements.

This was a very well organized trip, all the free time add ons really embraced the local culture. The drive days were probably the best part as we had time to explore the small unknown towns of Portugal. I think though more time in the Algarve would be better than spending 2 nights in Peniche. Overall though a highly recommended trip if you want to see the best bits of Portugal.

I loved going to the sunset spot in Porto to watch the Euros with my entire group. I also loved the optional ferry ride to Ilha das Berlengas, an island off Peniche.
