Day 6: Moab with Canyonlands and Arches National Park

Our mission for the next few days is a simple (but very epic) one: tick the Big 5 national parks of Utah off our bucket list, starting with Canyonlands. Desert landscapes, with an almost perfect 8-shaped river running through it - Canyonlands is sure to stay with you for a while. Home to over 2,000 sandstone arches and sublime views, you'll be posing for selfies left, right and centre here at the Arches. Back in Moab, with a head full of beautiful scenery and a camera-reel full of awesome content, we'll hit the hay tonight, ready for more of the same in the morning!

Day 7: Moab to Bryce Canyon via Capitol Reef National Park

Wakey wakey, roadies. Today we'll make our way to the next national park on our hitlist: Capitol Reef. This morning we'll have a change of scenery and head to Zion National Park for the day. Journeying into the Zion Canyon, our jaws will drop at the towering white, pink and red Navajo sandstone cliffs, surrounded by hanging gardens, soaring peaks, wildlife and birdsong. We'll spend most of today here, so pack some snacks and wear your best boots to get the most out of the day. Day 9: Bryce Canyon to Grand Canyon via Horseshoe Bend and Lake Powell

Today we'll journey from one canyon to the next. We'll finish up today at the big one, the Grand Canyon, but we have a few saucy stop-offs along the way. A meander of the colorado river, which just so happens to be shaped like a horseshoe - Mother Nature, you've outdone yourself with this one! This reservoir is visited by over 2 million people every year, and once you catch it IRL you'll understand exactly why. And now for the one you've been dreaming about (even more than the rest). The star of your USA itinerary. Yup, it's the Grand Canyon. It's about to get extra special too, because tonight we'll be marvelling at the sunset from the South Rim. Charge your phone, clear space on your camera, and prepare to weep.

Day 10: Grand Canyon

You will be contemplating life, existence, and the immense size of the Grand Canyon with a free day to spend in Grand Canyon National Park. You can spend your day feeling a part of the wilderness as you go hiking through the exposed rock, but by far the most spine tingling experience at this natural wonder is one of our optional chopper rides through the UNESCO World Heritage site. Indulgent sure, but one of those life moments you deserve to treat yourself to.

We've reached the one and only Sin City. Upon arrival we'll cruise the iconic strip & check out the Vegas sign. Feeling romantic? Stop by and see one of the many Elvis impersonators for a shotgun wedding ceremony, and maybe even get hitched yourself...(joking).Tonight, choose to hang out around Fremont Street or opt for a VIP nightclub experience for the kind of glitzy night out that only Vegas can provide.

Accommodation: The Strat Hotel & Casino (or similar)

Day 12: Las Vegas to Los Angeles

After partying it up in Las Vegas, we'll take the scenic route through the Mojave Desert. And there you have it, folks. There are plenty of activities here to keep the stars in your eyes, and if you're strapped for ideas, you could always set about planning the next adventure with your new Contiki family (just a thought).

This was an epic trip. The National Parks were stunning and the optional add ons are selectively chosen from the best providers so you can pick from an elite list of options. Our trip manager was an absolute weapon keeping us entertained on and off the bus and super knowledgeable with history of all the places and great recommendations for food and places to explore. Our coach driver was fun and a great driver getting us where we needed with zero fuss and tolerated our shenanigans. Together this duo made this amazing trip an experience ill never forget. The people I shared the trip with where an awesome group of people and we all made life long connections. Highly recommend this trip to any and everyone.

The whole trip was amazing, how it was managed and the itinerary was great. Enough time was spent at majority of the national parks with Zion and Arches being highlights for me. This was my first time doing group travel and I would definitely do it again. Very easy to book and received a lot of information and communication.

This was my first Contiki trip and will be my last. I cannot recommend Contiki. About 5 people joined this trip with me, while another 25 had already been on a trip all the way across America. Apparently this is normal with Contiki but I had no idea when I signed up. Most of the group was already friends and it wasn’t until the last couple days that I finally felt like we weren’t two separate groups. While most people ended up being very nice, overall it was an isolating experience. There is a lot of group time on the long driving days but very few group activities, you’re often on your own for meals and at the different locations. As a solo traveler this seemed to be an easy way to travel, next time I will try my luck with a different company. The Trip Manager was very capable and did the best she could with the set up of the trip, it is in no way her fault. If you’ve already booked and you have her she is a good guide. Contiki has a lot of hidden expenses. Most of the trip activities are not included and it can cost +$1000 in addition to the trip price or you’ll be waiting on the bus for everyone else to do the activities. You must also plan to tip the driver and your manager about $5-7 per day depending on the length of your trip. (In the states you’ll also be tipping most times you get meals) Please note the trip ends in Vegas there will be no tour on the way or in LA, the guide left in Vegas. Initially it was not clear that I could book online so I got caught up emailing the help desk to find out prices and they just kept asking for my passport number which was odd. Eventually I dropped the email chain and happened upon the way to book online.

The tour was amazing, the manager did a top notch job, it’s great for making lots of friends, such a blast. A little rushed and fast paced, but it’s better than the stress of organising your own trip. Definitely doing it again.
